About Me
The quick intro: All about Andrew Dugdell
G’day I’m Andrew Dugdell, thanks for dropping in. Most people call me Dugie (pronounced “duggy”) but anything close will do. From the greeting you can probably tell I’m an Aussie (living in Brisbane). I have 13 years of experience with the Microsoft Platform and development tools which some days feels like an eternity. Now however, I spend most of my time and energy with x86 Virtualization — and did so even before it was cool.
I have a ‘thing’ for all things Virtualization, Motorbikes, Community and Media Centres; and try to do combine them all together at once if I can.
Anyway, that’s enough for now. As Scott Hanselman puts it ever so nicely: That’s me, today. I’ll be different tomorrow, hopefully better.

Virtualization
Well, this is my new home. I’ve retired my old blog VirtualServer.tv. Here you’ll find my personal commentary on Windows and Virtualization. I’ll focus mainly on how virtualization helps manage server lifecycles and service delivery; and some other stuff as well. Why the blog change? Put simply I work with any of the Virtualization technologies that touch either Windows or the Microsoft VHD format (and now also VMware) in some way. So the name WindowsVirtualization seemed more fitting.
Technologies that I work with are Microsoft, VMware, VI3, Parallels, PlateSpin, P2V, V2V, VDI, Invirtus, and Wyse to name a few. Rest assured I have a bunch of cool stuff on the upcoming Viridian, but I shouldn’t talk about that just yet. I don’t really enjoy the alphabet soup game, but I have current certs for MCSE, VCP and ITIL.
I’ve also been awarded the Microsoft MVP for Virtual Machine in 2006 and again in 2007. So like all the other great MVPs I know, I’ll take every opportunity I can to share the ‘Virtual machine lovin‘ with others (wherever they are) out there in the community!
The Play Stuff
I like people, they are [usually] so much more exciting than server rooms. I believe community is a beautiful and powerful resource. So when I’m not doing stuff here you can find me hosting the Brisbane Infrastructure Group. If you’re passing through Brisbane drop in and say hello.
In my spare time and when the weather permits you can find me and my trusty motor-bike on a mountain or cruising the backroads somewhere. I’m one of those people who “enjoy the getting there” as apposed to “enjoying when you get there“. It’s truly amazing the people and places you find travelling backroads. Of course this blends nicely to one of my other non-techy passion which is photography (I’ve just started my flickr page).
There is a bunch of other stuff I enjoy, most Media Centre and food related, I’ll post at another time.
I like to take every opportunity I can to chat with others who like (or even hate) the same interests as me, so if you have a chance drop me an e-mail or give me a call +61419 726 131 and say hello.
UPDATE Feb 2008: I’m now a Territory SE for VMware covering QLD/NT; I’ll update the blog as soon as I can
